Where an organisation already runs TETRA for voice, its telemetry can travel on the same infrastructure rather than on a second network. The DGW is what makes that practical.

Up to 10 serial ports (RS232 or RS485) and up to 16 TCP or UDP connections. That range is what allows one gateway to serve a substation or pumping station with several classes of equipment rather than one device per protocol.

DNP3 and Modbus RTU natively, with scope for site-specific adaptation and customisation to requirement. Speaking the protocol directly removes a converter from the cabinet — and every device removed from a remote cabinet is one that cannot fail there.

Transmission over SDS and PDS, with optional data compression. Compression matters on TETRA more than on broadband: the available data rate is modest by design, so reducing payload directly increases how many outstations a network can poll.

A straightforward web interface, central management of several DGWs and modems, remote configuration and status monitoring. On a network with outstations that take half a day to reach, remote configuration is not a convenience — it is what makes the estate maintainable at all.
