A TETRA network covers what it was built to cover. PTTconnect extends it to the people who are outside that footprint without extending the infrastructure.

An Android application connects over UMTS, LTE or Wi-Fi and reaches the TETRA network through a gateway. To the TETRA side those users appear as participants; to the user, the application behaves as a radio.

Users on the broadband side depend on the commercial network, with the failure characteristics that implies: congestion during a major incident, and no service where there is no signal.
