Over-the-air programming covers most changes, but not all of them. A device that has lost its configuration, a new unit being brought into the estate, or a firmware step that cannot be done remotely all need a wired session — and doing that in bulk rather than one at a time is the difference between an afternoon and a week.

The battery analysis output is the part most operations underuse: a documented capacity figure per battery, exported, is the basis of a replacement schedule rather than a guess.
