An organisation rarely ends up with one communication technology. Radio arrived first, broadband later, video later still, and each came with its own console. The Converged Communication System exists to stop that from becoming three separate operations.

The platform runs over IP and carries voice, video, data and location as services on the same infrastructure. Terminals on different standards — DMR, TETRA, PoC and broadband clients — are connected through it rather than to each other, so a dispatcher works one screen instead of three.

Which existing systems must be reached, and by what interface. Convergence platforms are only as useful as their gateways: a system that bridges voice but not priority, or position but not alarms, produces a partial picture that is worse than an honest one. Ask for the interface list and the feature-by-feature scope before the architecture is fixed.
